The Speed 400
brings the Triumph modern classic experience to more riders than ever
before.
Styled to echo Triumphs of the past and applying the very latest in engineering
technology, the single-cylinder TR-series engine has been designed to produce a
fully exploitable, characterful and responsive power delivery with
class-beating performance.
A neutral yet
engaging riding position with a low seat height combines with a dedicated
roadster chassis, high-quality suspension and brakes to deliver Triumph’s
signature agile, confidence-inspiring handling, enabling riders of all
abilities to make the most of the Speed 400’s dynamic performance.
The
exceptional finish and attention to detail present in every Triumph Modern
Classic is apparent throughout the Speed 400. From the trademark black powder
coated engines casings through to the deep paint finish, the Speed 400 is
unmistakably Triumph, a truly premium Modern Classic.
AUTHENTIC
TRIUMPH STYLE
Conceived and
designed in Hinckley, UK, the Speed 400 has been crafted with the same exacting
attention to detail as every Triumph model. This stunning motorcycle blends
timeless design DNA with contemporary poise.
The
unmistakeable Triumph roadster silhouette, signature sculpted fuel tank and
classic engine profile echo legends of the past, and with exquisite details
like the distinctive finned cylinder head, hidden liquid cooling, traditional
exhaust header clamps and contemporary upswept silencer, the stunning blend of
retro and modern styling embody the unique appeal of Triumph’s celebrated
Modern Classic line-up.
ENGINE
The all-new fuel-injected, 398cc
single-cylinder engine combines Triumph’s trademark modern classic style with
state-of-the-art engineering to deliver a class-beating 40PS of power and
37.5Nm of peak torque with an evocative, rich and distinctive exhaust note.
Technical highlights include a four-valve, DOHC cylinder
head and a crankshaft, that has been perfectly weighted and balanced to
optimise inertia for low-speed drivability. A finger-follower valvetrain with a
low reciprocating mass and DLC coatings that reduce friction, also contribute
to this free-revving yet tractable engines incredible performance.
The six-speed gearbox delivers light, precise gear
selection with ratios perfectly spaced to make the most of this exciting,
characterful and torque-rich engine.
HIGH-SPECIFICATION PARTS
The Speed 400 is fitted with some seriously high-spec, top
brand parts to help maximise riding enjoyment, safety and the sheer pleasure of
Triumph ownership.
Bosch engine management ensures the rider’s connection to
the ride-by-wire throttle is consistent and intuitive. Stunning, lightweight
ten-spoke cast aluminium wheels fitted with premium brand tyres and big piston,
43mm upside-down forks and adjustable rear shock absorber deliver easy,
agile, handling. Twin-piston radial brakes with braided lines provide
superb lever feel with assured stopping power backed up by Bosch ABS technology
— the sum total of these high-specification parts and technology is a
motorcycle with a quality feel that inspires confidence and makes every ride
fun.

MODERN RIDER TECHNOLOGY
The
Speed 400 is packed with technology designed to enhance every ride. The
torque-assist clutch is an ingenious system that reduces lever effort to
improve ease of use and rider comfort during stop/start riding and reduce
fatigue on longer journeys. It also helps prevent rear wheel skipping and
locking for greater performance and peace of mind.
For enhanced rider convenience, a neat USB-C charging
socket allows on-the-move charging of devices, such as smartphones and
navigation systems. The system is even pre-enabled for accessory fit heated
grips — so you can enjoy your Speed 400, whatever the weather.
The clean and contemporary dual format instruments, operated by an intuitive, handlebar-mounted scroll button, display all the information clearly in all light conditions. A prominent gear indicator is also present.
